Academy

Benefit from our experience

Our academy offers further education and training in the core areas of emergency medicine, flight operations and maintenance, as well as management and PD for managers. This is because we know the needs of paramedics, emergency doctors, pilots and technicians very well from daily practice and know what matters in daily work: we train our employees ourselves every day.

Management seminars have also been added to our portfolio since the beginning of 2021: Under the headline "From aviation to business", we show managers how company procedures, decision-making, communication and team processes can be optimised. Because we are experts in this: in our daily work for our patients, both in the air and on the ground, all processes and actions have to be right. Safety always comes first.

Benefit from the many years of experience of our instructors and course leaders at the DRF Luftrettung Academy. They pass on their knowledge according to the latest pedagogical, didactic and methodical findings - competently and authentically.

Our principle: Minimum Total Cost of Training

We know from our daily work that every minute counts. This also applies to our academic training and further education programmes. We offer you various flexible formats that also allow you to concentrate on what is important: Your work.

Emergency medicine training

The best possible medical care for patients entrusted to us is always the focus of our missions. For more than four decades, DRF Luftrettung has been committed to state-of-the-art air rescue with innovative solutions in Germany and worldwide. Customers of our academy also benefit from this: our emergency medical training programme for emergency doctors and paramedics is broadly diversified and oriented towards the latest state of science and medical technology.

Flight operation
Flight operation

With a fleet of over 50 helicopters and more than 45 years of flying experience, the DRF Luftrettung has a wide range of flying know-how and state-of-the-art technology. Due to its certification as an "Approved Training Organisation", it can offer training courses to acquire type ratings for various helicopter types. In the courses at our academy, our excellently trained teaching staff pass on their many years of experience according to the latest pedagogical findings - competently and authentically.

Maintenance
Maintenance

For more than 45 years, our helicopters have been taking off safely on their missions - thanks to our employees at the Operation Centre at Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden Airport. Here, our excellently trained technicians repair the aircraft for air rescue, among other things. Extensive experience with a wide variety of types such as H135, H145, EC145, EC135, BK 117 and BO 105 distinguishes the training personnel who work in the Part-147 training facility. From type ratings, general helicopter courses to individual offers - we are happy to share our expertise with you.

Management and PD for managers
Management and PD for managers

In air rescue, it is necessary to make the right decisions under great time pressure and to ensure efficient processes with the imperative of safety. Transferring these processes to other companies is the goal of the course concepts in the area of management and PD for managers. The DRF Luftrettung has many years of experience in conducting management courses within its own ranks: since 2005, all helicopter crews have undergone "Crew Resource Management Training", which focuses on team building and team processes. "As emergency physicians, we have to make the right therapeutic-tactical decisions for our patients as quickly as possible in order to optimise treatment right from the start. The DRF Luftrettung concept - bringing ultrasound diagnostics to the emergency patient - expands our diagnostic possibilities enormously."

"In recent years, it has become clear that portable, pocket-sized ultrasound systems can have a significant impact on the quality and outcome of patient care. As the first device of its kind, the Vscan Dual with 2-in-1 transducer supports numerous important ultrasound procedures at variable locations. This allows the primary care team to make important decisions pre-clinically that can optimise the subsequent course of treatment."

"I was absolutely thrilled with the seminar and will recommend it anytime. The methods were demonstrated with real life examples, which made it more understandable. "The DRF Luftrettung instructors provided me with valuable experience, tips and tricks on decision-making and team leadership in an informative and entertaining two days.
